This May, the Tap Cancer Out Spring Tour continued its inspiring journey with back-to-back events in Baltimore and Charlotte, and once again, the Jiu-Jitsu community proved just how powerful we are when we roll together for a cause.
Baltimore – May 10, 2025
Our return to Baltimore was nothing short of extraordinary. With an outpouring of support and effort from every corner of the community, we raised an incredible $121,272 through 1,881 donations and the hard work of 160 dedicated fundraisers.
Leading the Charge
Mahima Rawal from Ground Control BJJ absolutely stole the show in Charm City, earning both the Top Overall and Top Youth Fundraiser titles by raising a phenomenal $3,456. Her passion, drive, and commitment remind us what this movement is all about.

On the team side, the Vicente Jr. Team stood tall, rallying 20 members to bring in a whopping $11,905, claiming the Top Fundraising Team title. Way to set the bar high!

Charlotte – May 17, 2025
Just a week later, we returned to our home city with Charlotte, and the energy didn’t skip a beat. The Queen City came through with $124,269 raised, 1,334 donations, and 190 fundraisers driving the mission forward.

Matt LaBell from Charlotte Jiu Jitsu Academy was an unstoppable force, raising an astounding $10,725 to become the Top Overall Fundraiser. As a TCOasis trip winner, his leadership and dedication to fighting cancer through BJJ is inspiring.

Meanwhile, Jayden Conner from Great Grappling secured the Top Youth Fundraiser spot with $3,500 raised, proving once again that the next generation of grapplers is just as committed to the cause.

Checkmat Charlotte continued their reign as fundraising champions, taking home the Top Fundraising Team title for an impressive fifth time, bringing in $12,634 with nearly 50 team members. An incredible testament to consistency, teamwork, and purpose.
