WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

This role is made for the individual who, at their core, wants to create beautiful content that captures attention, tells a riveting story, and creates impact in the world. They’ll also know all the ins-and-outs of writing, producing and versioning content for various social platforms and mediums. You’ll be correcting the boss when he thinks a video would be better for YouTube, but you want to shoot it vertically for TikTok (or maybe both).

A major part of our small yet agile team, you don’t need anyone leaning over your shoulder. You’ll have a proven ability to work independently and proactively to edit and publish content quickly, particularly when you’re attending one of our live events.

Our Video & Content Producer will work at our Indian Land, SC office and must be in-office at least 3 days a week, 8-hours per day. The other two days may be remote. This position will require traveling approximately 10-14 weekends a year to capture content. Attendance at some but not all events is required. • Own social analytics and insights, track performance, and optimize content execution
  • Lead the creative presence of our apparel lines as they exist across e-commerce, social media, and beyond (ex: lead photoshoots of new and existing products)
  • We understand your specialty may be in one creative discipline more than the other, so we can offer additional training opportunities to hone your craft.

What You Will Need in Order to Be Successful:

  • A strong portfolio including multi-disciplinary filmmaking (could include commercial/ads, documentary, highlight/sports, etc)
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, social media, film, creative/graphic design, communications, journalism, business, or a related field is helpful

  • Photography skills are a major plus
  • Possess a thorough understanding of marketing creative, design principles, social media, and layout strategy
  • Not afraid to pitch ideas for new content pieces to test and learn (it’s okay if it doesn’t work – at least we tried!) with an ability to receive and implement feedback
  • Moves quickly but strives for quality, paying attention to the small stuff

What it Means to Be a Part of the TCO Team:

  • You must be able to work with others within the team on creative projects, including (but not limited to) partnering, taking direction, and giving/receiving feedback from a social media / marketing manager.
  • You’ll also work with our Director of Partnerships and other team members to develop partner-centric content.
  • We are leaning on YOU to be our creative lead when it comes to video. You’ll develop our strategy across various platforms including YouTube (long-form), e-commerce, and social media.
  • You’ll be able to work independently and will provide ideas and concepts on your own to tell the Tap Cancer Out story in an endless amount of ways.
  • You are confident enough to pull our Executive Director aside, even when he’s busy, and say “Hey, I need you to film this piece of content.”

Do I Need to Train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
Some but not all TCO employees train BJJ. While experience training BJJ is not a prior requirement of this role, it is helpful in the same way previous experience and training in your area of expertise is helpful. Being able to “talk the talk” and train with others in conjunction with content creation can help create more compelling content and a stronger narrative. If you’d like to start training BJJ when you start this role, that’s great too. Tap Cancer Out covers up to $150 per month in BJJ academy membership fees at the academy of your choice.
