A Transformational Gift: CJI Raises $500,000 for Tap Cancer Out

Back in July, we broke the news that Tap Cancer Out would be the Premiere Charity Partner of the Craig Jones Invitational (CJI). We were honored to be selected and we knew that CJI was going to be groundbreaking. Our team had the privilege of witnessing jiu-jitsu history in the making, an event that will undoubtedly serve as a catalyst for the sport’s future growth. Leaving Las Vegas we were inspired and motivated to work even harder to bring the BJJ community together in the fight against cancer.

We are excited to share some incredible news with you! Through the remarkable efforts of the Craig Jones Invitational and the Fair Fight Foundation, an astounding $500,000 has been raised for Tap Cancer Out!

This incredible sum was made possible by donations to the Fair Fight Foundation, ticket sales, sponsorships, and apparel purchases. CJI’s direct donation was also tripled thanks to two generous challenge matches—one led by KASAI Grappling CEO Rich Byrne, and another from an anonymous donor.

These funds will be instrumental in helping Tap Cancer Out expand its reach to more grapplers around the world and amplify its impact in the fight against cancer.

Jon Thomas, Founder and Executive Director of Tap Cancer Out, expressed his deep gratitude for the donation, calling it “transformational” for the organization. “This gift from the Fair Fight Foundation will enable us to accelerate our ambitious strategic goals. Our vision is to give every grappler the opportunity to fight for those in the fight of their lives,” said Thomas. He also emphasized how the partnership with CJI has heightened awareness of Tap Cancer Out’s mission, thanks to the organization’s support and the passionate fanbase behind it.

“We wish to thank Craig, Seth, Anthony, B-Team, and CJI’s incredible athletes for believing so strongly in our mission. Additionally, massive thanks is owed to the inspiring fanbase that came out and made the inaugural CJI a tremendous success,” Thomas added.

Seth Belisle, Co-Founder and President of the Fair Fight Foundation, echoed these sentiments: “We are honored to support Tap Cancer Out with this charitable donation and know that funds will be put to swift and effective use to further their inspiring mission. Our charitable impact is made possible by our sponsors and the millions of fans and viewers who believe in CJI and share our belief that Jiu-Jitsu is a global force for good.”

The Craig Jones Invitational has not only raised significant funds, but also set a new standard for how sporting events can make a profound difference in the fight against cancer, bringing the BJJ community together for a higher purpose. Tap Cancer Out is truly humbled by the entire experience and we cannot wait to see what CJI 2025 will bring!

As a reminder, CJI fans can continue their support of Tap Cancer Out through its 20 annual tournaments and signature Global Grappling Day event on December 14th.
