On December 14th, Tap Cancer Out held its highly anticipated 2024 Global Grappling Day, and we are thrilled to announce that it was a monumental success! This annual event brought together jiu-jitsu practitioners, teams, and supporters from around the world to grapple for a greater purpose—to help fund groundbreaking cancer research and patient care.
This year’s Global Grappling Day exceeded all expectations, achieving record-breaking numbers and uniting the global grappling community like never before. Let’s take a look at some of the incredible highlights:
By the Numbers
- $288,245 (and counting) raised—making this the highest-grossing Global Grappling Day in Tap Cancer Out’s history.
- 3,000 donations from generous supporters worldwide.
- 317 transacting fundraisers who dedicated their time and energy to this incredible cause.
- 140 registered teams, with 16 teams raising over $5,000 each!
- The BJJ Program (Canada) had 67 registered team members!
The overwhelming generosity and dedication of our fundraisers and donors made this year’s event a massive success, surpassing every milestone set in previous years.
A Global Movement

This year was no exception, with teams and individuals representing Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, and the UK alongside participants from across the United States. Top Fundraisers and Teams
A huge shoutout to our top performers who went above and beyond in their fundraising efforts:
- Top Overall Fundraiser: Damian Paton-Gay from Canada, who raised an astonishing $14,533!
- Top Fundraising Team: Garden State BJJ from New Jersey, led the pack with a phenomenal $55,307 raised.
These impressive achievements reflect the dedication, passion, and teamwork that define the Global Grappling Day spirit.
