MORE THAN MEDALS: ANTHONY MUOIO

MORE THAN MEDALS shares the heartfelt stories of our fundraisers, revealing the faces behind our cause. Today, we share the story of pediatric brain tumor survivor, Anthony Muoio.

Anthony is a 10-year-old grey belt training at Black Wolf Martial Arts in CT. He is currently fundraising for the 2024 Connecticut BJJ Open on June 22nd. Anthony was the 2023 Connecticut BJJ Open Top Youth Fundraiser, raising $8,755. He has already surpassed the $10,000 milestone for the 2024 event!

ANTHONY FIGHTS FOR HIMSELF

Anthony is a pediatric brain tumor survivor. He was diagnosed with a choroid plexus papilloma at 5 months old and underwent a 9.5-hour lifesaving surgery to remove the tumor.

Anthony survived a stroke and has since developed epilepsy. While he continues to undergo treatment for the effects of his surgery, he is an active and happy kid who loves to spread awareness and raise money for causes close to his heart.

This year, he is celebrating 10 years tumor-free and asking for donations to TCO to celebrate his anniversary.

We encourage you to follow Anthony’s fundraising journey. His story is truely inspirational! Anthony is excited to take to the mats for his second Tap Cancer Out event and to see how much more he can raise!
