More Than Medals: Norah Elder

MORE THAN MEDALS shares the heartfelt stories of our fundraisers, revealing the faces behind our cause. Today, we share the story of Norah Elder who is honoring her grandmother and family friend, Mrs. Amy.

Norah is a grey belt training at CJJF West Frisco. She is currently fundraising for the 2024 Dallas BJJ Open on May 25th.

NORAH FIGHTS FOR HER GRANDMOTHER

Norah’s Grammy has been battling Malignant Melanoma since 2017, with 5 recurrences in the same spot. Her treatments have included surgery, immuno-therapy, radiation, and now oral targeted therapy with the continued goal of keeping the melanoma from metastasizing.

NORAH IS ALSO FIGHTING FOR MRS. AMY

Mrs. Amy is a family friend who passed away this month after several years of struggling with colon cancer. Norah has been friends with Amy’s children for most of her life and witnessed the toll this terrible disease has had not only on Amy but her family as well.

Norah and her family learned of the TCO Dallas tournament the week that Amy passed away and could not help but feel led to raise funds and awareness in her memory, as well as to continue to support her grandmother in her fight.

We encourage you to follow Norah’s fundraising journey to honor her grandmother and family friend, Amy. We wish her the best of luck at the upcoming Dallas BJJ Open. Thank you for sharing your story with us, Norah!
